The 2026 Michigan POTA Meetup is Coming Together
Three months out and things are coming together for the 2026 Michigan POTA Meetup. June 6th at Hartwick Pines State Park (US-1503) in Grayling, 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Some good news on the park: the visitor center has been undergoing renovations and is anticipated to reopen daily starting May 1st. It will be fully up and running by the time we get there, with hands-on exhibits on Michigan's forests and a bookstore on site. And right near our Day Use Shelter is the Hartwick Pines Logging Museum, with original 1890s logging camp structures, a working steam-powered sawmill, and costumed interpreters bringing it all to life.
Similar to last year, we plan to have hamburgers and hot dogs available at no charge, first come first served, and we do our best to make sure there is plenty. Feel free to bring a dish to pass if you would like to contribute. We will also be doing a group photo at 1:00 PM at the shelter. More agenda items to be announced soon.
Thinking about camping for the weekend? Hartwick Pines is currently showing full, but keep checking as spots do open up. If you need a backup, North Higgins Lake State Park in Roscommon is a short drive away and a beautiful spot on Higgins Lake. Not familiar with the area? Gaylord is your closest stop for hotels and restaurants, about 25 miles north. Reservations at midnrreservations.com.
Bring the family. Bring a friend. More details and activities coming soon.
